About the book:

The present book A Study into English Prose and Writing Skills is designed according to the prescribed syllabus of M. J. P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly as per National Education Policy 2020. The study material in the present book ranges from the literary spirit of Bacon who belongs to the Elizabethan Age in England to Modern Indian English contemplative writings of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The short stories of prominent writers around the globe as well as literary devices related to prose and short stories have also been surveyed as per the curriculum. The relevant writings required in practical life like complaints, F.I.R., RTI, C.V. etc. are also given ample space. Each chapter contains glossary, short answers, long answers and MCQ’s for practice. The introduction of Indian English writers is not limited to the prescribed authors alone but provides an insight into the development of Indian English Writing. This book will, undoubtedly, develop an insight into literature and writing skills, and thus, will be of great help to the students.


About the editors:

Dr. Sandhya Saxena, Associate Professor, Dept. of English, V.R.A.L.Govt. Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bareilly, has 21 years of teaching experience in Govt. Colleges. She has published three edited books entitled, Political Novel: The Beaten Track & the Path Ahead  (co-edited), Five Indian Women Writers: A Feminist Vision (co-edited), and Text Book of English Prose (for  B.A.I) (co-edited). Her quality research papers have been published in reference books ( with ISBN No.) and esteemed journals like Replica, Cyber Literature, Contemporary Vibes, Labyrinths and The Indian Journal of English Studies. She has also contributed book reviews to Replica, Cyber Literature and e- journal Creation & Criticism. She has delivered invited talks and lectures at different occasions along with performing in plays broadcast from AIR Rampur as ‘B’ High Grade Drama Artist. College, Chandausi (Sambhal). He is gold medalist in English (2007) in M. J. P. R. University, Bareilly.  He is credited with various research papers in reputed journals and magazines and has attended many national and international seminars. His area of interest is Indian English Literature and Indian Aesthetics. He has published Nar Mein Vivek Jaga, a book of poetry on Swami Vivekananda; besides Tanhai Mein, a collection of miscellaneous poems, his Vishwasghat, the poetic translation of Macbeth is waiting for publication.
